For fall break this year we decided to tackle India. It's a huge country but one of the most popular areas for tourists is Rajasthan. It didn't disappoint. The colors, people, food, noise, animals...all spectacular. We started out with a night flight to Delhi followed by a five hour layover in the Delhi airport before flying on to Udaipur. The boys can now say they've slept in an airport.

Animals right out the back door of our hotel room |
From Udaipur we drove to Narlai which was a small village where we stayed in the king's former hunting lodge. The views were beautiful and the morning village walk was a glimpse into how people in the area live. We encountered a few animals on the drive there that I can say I've never seen on the drive from Denver to Sterling. :-)

An unexpected sight in Narlai |
From Narlai it was on to Jaipur with it's amazing fort. We rode elephants to the top and Jack and Dominic both touched a cobra - eek!

Picked up this traditional men's wedding hat for Dominic's future wedding |

The boys learning about block printing |
The people were just so beautiful, interesting and welcoming. Most greeted us with a smile and loved having their photos taken.

Random photo of all the ways chickpeas can be eaten. We literally had them three meals a day. |

Most of the monkeys also made great subjects |
From Jaipur we drove to Ranthambhore National Park hoping to get a glimpse of the elusive and protected tiger. No luck after three safaris, but we still enjoyed the beautiful landscape and many animals we did see that are not common in other parts of the world.

The hotel's elephants greeted us when we returned from every safari |

The hotel hosted a "cocktail" making class for the kids. Pretty sure this wouldn't fly in the US.

Finally got up close and personal with the monkeys at Monkey Temple in Jaipur

Love this photo Kenny took of a boy at Monkey Temple |

Sick of carpet shopping |
And no trip to India would be complete without the Taj Mahal - amazing!
