Palau - Spring Break 2016

I have no idea why, but I had been dragging my feet on going to Palau. Kenny kept saying he'd like to go there based on a coworkers recommendation and boy, was he right. I am glad we waited until the two bigger boys were old enough to get scuba certified and Dominic was a bit older and has had a lot of swim lessons at this point. It's pretty much all about water sports. The big boys spent the first three days in scuba class while we snorkeled in the area. After they passed it was on to the big, blue ocean. I have to say this may be the best diving and snorkeling we've ever done. I was also hell bent on visiting Jellyfish Lake. I'd read about it a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. The jellyfish are trapped in a marine lake with no predators, thus they have evolved to lose the painful sting of their nematocysts. Luckily, grandma joined us on the trip and we were also happy to have along friends from school, the Cattins.

It was magical being underwater with all of the jellyfish and being able to touch them.

First time in the water with BCDs
Off they go!
Dominic was dying to dive too

They passed! Four new divers.
First ocean dive
Lots of boat time!

Entertaining themselves while doing their surface interval before their second dive

Some very cool underwater relics from WWII to explore

So many sharks that it became routine to see them

The corals were amazing. More variety than we've ever seen.

Cannonball!
