I wrote about our crazy utility purchasing process here. Well, today was an epic failure of Kerry "Jack Bauer" Stumpff. And it couldn't have come at a worse time. At the end of a lengthy, bad stretch of being a work widow (including the weekend), I had finally made it to the last of Nugget's nap times before Kenny got home. During a long day or a long week I LIVE for this little slice of quiet time where I can shut my door and read (with my eyes closed). I got Nugget down, got the boys settled with a video, went upstairs and thought, "hmmm, things are a little TOO quiet." No air purifier hum, no AC fan, no Star Wars video, no white noise machine. Insert expletive here.....and I'm sure it isn't as bad as what I thought. I waited until Kenny got home to stay with the boys and then took off to buy me some power, but come on, there has to be a better way.
It's been one heck of a long week with illness, single parenthood, tear inducing pollution, rain, broken water dispenser (which dispensed about 5 gallons of water on my floor last night at bedtime) and a blackout, but now all is right with the world again. Kenny's home, we have electricity and there's always tomorrow for a little reading (with my eyes closed).
