I never thought I'd say this, BUT

I kind of miss Germany's "quiet hours" law. Here in China I go to sleep to fireworks. I wake up to fireworks. Dominic's naps are interrupted by fireworks. Now that one really pisses me off. Even more so than being jolted awake at 6 AM on a Sunday morning.

When I asked my Ayi about it she just said, "Chinese people like fireworks." There's no rhyme or reason to them, especially the ones during the daytime that you can't see. I know for Chinese New Year they set them off to keep away evil spirits, but some days I literally hear them off and on all day.

The soundtrack for our time in Germany will be set to church bells. Fireworks will be what reminds me of our time in China. It's not like our household isn't noisy enough.
