Norway in a VERY expensive nutshell

We spent the Labor day weekend in Norway. We had read that it was one of the most expensive countries in the world, but HOLY CRAP, it was crazy expensive. Usually I have to get on Kenny about working on his Crackberry on vacation, but this trip he had his Blackberry out constantly...not for work, but using the calculator figuring the currency exchange. We'd be walking along or studying a menu and I'd hear "a salad is 25 bucks!" "that T-shirt was 100 bucks!" "an ice cream cone is 9 bucks!" Here are a few of my other impressions of Norway.

1) The scenery was spectacular
2) The people were really friendly and EVERYONE spoke English. In fact, their English was so good they even got our sarcastic senses of humor.
3) Their radio stations were stuck in the 80's and 90's. We did a ton of driving and only picked up three stations. One was church music, one was from what we could tell Norwegian comedy and the third was the best of the 80's and 90's with a little Dolly Parton sprinkled in.
4) They have the longest road tunnel in the world (24.5km or 15.2 miles) - I had no idea. It was so long they had a radio transceiver inside. Lucky for us...we were in there so long we had time to hear Mr. Mister's "Kyrie elesion," Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again," Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U," AND Dolly's "9 to 5." What an eclectic playlist.
5) Have I mentioned it was expensive?

Again, for anyone reading this on Facebook, I can't figure out how to get my Picasa slideshows to show up here. If it works WOOHOO I'm a genius (not really, it was dumb luck), if it doesn't go to my blog to see the pictures if you're interested or click on "Original post" on Facebook.
