Long weekend in The Netherlands

The past weekend was a four day holiday so we decided to head north to The Netherlands to check out the tulips and I bought tickets for Cirque du Soleil which was playing in Amsterdam. It was a great weekend, the tulips were in full bloom, the weather was beautiful and the boys loved Cirque du Soleil. I don't think Luc blinked for the full two hours.

We started the trip in Aachen, Germany where some of Kenny's relatives are from. There is a Lousberg hill and Lousberg Street. Next, it was on to the tulips in The Netherlands. The drive was spectacular with fields blooming all around. I didn't bore you with too many flower pictures, but Kenny took a ton because it was like a postcard every direction you looked. The day after the tulips we stopped at an open air museum in Enkhuisen, which is basically a town recreated to look like the early 1900's. Then on to Cirque, a stop at an American cemetery from Operation Market Garden at the end of WWII, a night in Valkenburg, and finally a quick stop to check out Maastricht on the way home.

It was a great trip. Again, I gotta say I love all these German holidays. This upcoming weekend is another holiday weekend with Monday off. We're heading to Dresden, so I'll post pictures of that city sometime next week. This will be our first trip there.
