My Mom, Kenny, the boys and I got back on Monday from an amazing trip to Israel. Israel has been on my "life list" of places to visit since I caught the travel bug. We had the obvious security concerns, but after talking to our former neighbor (who was stationed there), our friends Christer and Christine (who flew there last fall) and doing a lot of research on the web, we decided to go for it. We never felt in danger, but security is everywhere and like our Israeli tour guide said, "negative feelings are constantly simmering just below the surface."
The highlights for me were floating in the Dead Sea, seeing the Wailing Wall (I had no concept of what this was), and finally getting a (weak) grasp on the Jewish faith and Middle East conflict. I did tons of reading, Googling and asking of questions and still can't sleep at night trying to process all I learned. It's an unbelievably complicated and passionate area of the world and I'm glad we made the leap of faith to visit.
This slide show is pretty long, so I tried to speed it up. If you want to look at the pictures more slowly just click on it.
