We spent Sunday night in Strasbourg, France to check out their Christmas Market. It was a great, but cold and crowded night. Sunday night was the only night in December that we could get a room in the hotel we wanted. That is how popular and crowded it is. We've now been to the biggest markets in Germany and France and both Kenny and I agree that we liked the market stalls better in Nurnberg, but liked the lights, atmosphere and town of Strasbourg better. Strasbourg is famous for it's cathedral and this is a picture of the lower part of the spire with the market in front of it. This is the third time I'd been to Strasbourg and it sure looked different with all the markets spread out throughout the town.

Here's the temporary ice skating rink they construct for the market.

The decorations were pretty awesome, especially the lights. I wish all the lights, trees and decorations would have shown up better in pictures. There was one street that was sponsored by Baccarat and they had chandeliers hanging down the middle of the street.

Père Noël (Father Christmas) was pretty
intriguing to the boys...from a distance and the safety of their stroller and Daddy's shoulders. He was pretty awesome and broke right into English asking if the boys were from Washington DC or Washington State? I guess he is Santa afterall. He has to make the rounds all over the world.

The lights look beautiful...I love that about Christmas time. Umm and that Santa isn't quite like the one at the Alderwood mall...wonder where he got that get up??
